Our Mission

The mission of The Forestlands Conservation Foundation is to preserve biological diversity and a network of natural ecological systems through land conservation. Our goal is to increase the size of existing nature preserves, to increase the connectivity of existing protected areas, and to create refugia for wildlife and plants where ecological and evolutionary processes can occur on the scale needed for long-term biodiversity persistence.
We work to preserve Eastern temperate deciduous forest and related habitats in the states of South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Ohio. Across Eastern United States. Our goal is to protect one thousand acres by 2030.
Our Vision
- We seek to increase private funding to purchase critical conservation land and permanently protect it.
- We strive to decrease land conservation response time, so that when critical conservation lands are available for purchase, we can act quickly to purchase them.
- We hope for strong partnerships with landowners, real estate professionals, government agencies, conservation groups, and private citizens with a shared goal of preserving biological diversity and natural ecological and evolutionary processes for the future.
